How does it work?

The medical grade CryoPen® releases a fine jet of nitrous oxide at high pressure, enabling your doctor to work with great precision. This means that there is very little risk of damage to surrounding tissue. The lesion being treated is broken down by freezing the fluid inside the cells. This causes the cell membrane to rupture, and destroys the cell.

The treatment takes a few minutes. You can expect to feel a small sting for a few minutes afterwards, along with an area of flushing around the lesion for 2 to 4 hours. On occasion, a blister might form that is likely to settle within a couple of days. The tissue breaks down over a few days, and in most cases, lesions are gone within 10 to 14 days.

You may need to attend a follow-up appointment within 2 to 4 weeks confirm to check the treated area and to see whether a follow-up treatment is required.
